Chile´s Renewable Energy Future

The CCC, together with AMCHAM Chile, and the US-Chile Energy Council successfully concluded a networking reception on Tuesday, October 20, addressing the highly attractive investment opportunities available in the renewable energy sector in Chile.

Rafael Friedmann, Strategic Analyst with PG&E, expert in energy efficiency evaluation, energy policy, and new technologies provided a brief overview of the development of renewable energy projects in Chile, and described the opportunities in the industry overall.  John Bodt, Senior Director of Finance of Pattern Energy Group discussed Pattern Energy´s involvement in developing large scale renewable energy projects in Chile, and Rebecca Jaffe, Project Development Engineer of the company First Solar provided an overview of her company´s projects in Chile, describing existing opportunities, along with some of the institutional mechanisms that exist to develop them. While Francisco Torrealba, Chief Strategy Officer of the company Valhalla, discussed their role in the development of large-scale storage capacity as an important complement to the energy matrix.
