Climate Change: Why it is important
Human impacts on the environment are shifting the planet’s natural equilibrium and threatening life on earth as we know it. Evidence of this is the increased frequency and intensity of extreme weather events such as storm surges, floods, fires, desertification, droughts, and soil degradation –to name a few– which result in huge economic losses, damage to infrastructure, and significant risks to people’s health and livelihoods.
This area is focused on promoting best practices for climate action between Chile and California. Specifically, we seek to promote sustainable management of water due to its importance for human life and soil regeneration for CO2 capture and storage, and to strengthen existing collaborations around the prevention and management of the increasing forest fires in both regions.
